The Magnolia Ice Cream Flavor House

In a far far away land called Aurora Boulevard there, stood an ice-cream parlor, scooping up everyone’s favorite ice cream!

Last May 13, 2014, we were invited to join a food tour hosted by RJ Ledesma and Anton Diaz, the brains behind Mercato Centrale Group and Our Awesome Planet and last on the list is The Magnolia Ice Cream Flavor House.

The Magnolia Ice Cream Flavor House would certainly be the first ever ice cream store in the Philippines. Then came other ice cream stores, serving up all sorts of flavors and different ways of serving it but this is a classic.

We can’t really relate that much so, we can’t say that it brings back childhood memories, but seeing the reactions of others who’ve witnessed the store during the good ol’ days was priceless. It was like being a kid all over again and all you ever want is ice cream in a cone. When Robinsons Magnolia was born, the history and memories brought about this famous ice cream parlor had to be part of the lifestyle at Aurora Boulevard and so the revamp of the place.

We can’t compare which decade served the best Magnolia ice cream but we can proudly say that the ice cream was really creamy and flavorful. The touch of whip cream probably did the trick.

Halo Halo

During the tour they served up quite a few of the ice cream creations that they offer and boy were we overwhelmed and full but satisfied. Then while we were enjoying our ice creams one of the bloggers said that when he was younger, his dad would order a box of ice cream cake, yes cake! As he described ” 30% cake and 70% ice cream” and since, they lived quite far, the cake would be prepared with dry ice to stop or at least slow down the process of the ice cream from melting.

They actually still serve it and that would be another story to tell. 😀
